Karachi's seven districts ready for LG elections tomorrow
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The voting for the local government elections of the seven districts of Karachi will take place on January 15 (tomorrow).
Districts and Towns:
Seven districts include Karachi’s Central, East, South, West districts while polling would also take place in Keamari, Korangi and Malir. In total, elections would take place in 246 union councils of 26 towns of Karachi.
Polling Stations:
There are 4,990 polling stations in which 1,496 stations have been called as highly sensitive. There are 984 wards for the local elections.
Karachi Central District:
There are 45 union councils in five towns of district. Two million are the registered voters. There are 1,263 polling stations and 360 are highly sensitive and 903 are sensitive.
Karachi East District:
There are five towns and 43 municipal committees in the five towns of this area. Registered voters are 1.4 million. Of the total 799 polling stations, 200 are highly sensitive.
Karachi North District:
26 municipal committees in the district with registerd voters almost one million.
Karachi West District:
Of the 639 polling stations, 111 are highly sensitive and 528 are sensitive.
Korangi:
In the four towns of Korangi, there are 37 municipal committees and registered voters are 1.4 million. Of the 765 polling stations, 318 are highly sensitive.
Keamari:
There are 32 municipal committees in three towns of Keamari and registered voters are 0.8 million.
Malir:
Voting would be held in the 497 polling stations of this district with 119 stations highly sensitive.
